How to Check Your Car’s Oil Level | Infinity Insurance

Hi everyone, I’m Jennifer
with Infinity Insurance, and today I’m going to show you
how to check your car’s oil level. Before we begin, make sure
you’re in a safe area and have a clean rag or
paper towel. Remove the dipstick and clean
it off with a clean rag or paper towel. Then proceed to reinsert it
and remove it again. Look at the oil level. If it’s between the two markers,
usually an L or an H, or two dots, your engine oil
level is okay. If it’s below the minimum mark, you will need to add oil
and recheck. Also check the oil’s color.
It should be brown or black. If it has a cloudy appearance
or has any metal particles, you should have your car towed
to a mechanic. To finish, you should resinsert
the dipstick and close the engine bay. But what if your car doesn’t
have a physical dipstick? For this, we’re using one of our
insured’s cars with permission of course. This Mini Cooper comes with a
digital dipstick function. It’s a matter of
going to the correct menu setting and having it check
the oil for you. As long as the oil is in between
two markers, you’ll be fine. If it’s low, you need to add oil
and recheck. That’s it for today! Now you
know how to do this easy but essential bit of car
maintenance. If you have any suggestions
for future videos, leave a comment below. Until next time, it’s Jennifer
from Infinity Insurance.
